Cookie Policy
We use minimal cookies. Here is complete transparency on what and why.
1. Our Approach to Cookies
StatsGem is built on a principle of minimal data collection. This means we use as few cookies as possible, and only where strictly necessary to provide the Service.
We do NOT use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, social media cookies, or any cookies that monitor your behaviour across other websites. There is no cookie consent banner on StatsGem because we have nothing to disclose that requires consent under EU law.
2. What is a Cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Cookies serve various purposes including keeping you logged in, remembering preferences, and tracking user behaviour for analytics or advertising.
Cookies can be 'session cookies' (deleted when you close your browser) or 'persistent cookies' (stored on your device for a set period). They can be 'first-party' (set by the website you visit) or 'third-party' (set by external services).
3. Cookies We Use
3.1 Authentication Cookie (Essential)
Purpose: Keeps you logged into your account during a session.
Type: First-party, session cookie.
Duration: Expires when you log out or after session timeout.
Legal basis: Strictly necessary — cannot be disabled without breaking core Service functionality. Under EU ePrivacy Directive, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent.
Data stored: Encrypted session identifier. No personal information stored in the cookie itself.
4. Cookies We Do NOT Use
StatsGem explicitly does NOT use:
Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager
Facebook Pixel or any Meta tracking
Any advertising network cookies
Affiliate tracking cookies
Cross-site tracking cookies of any kind
Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, or similar behavioral analytics
5. Analytics — No Cookies Required
We use Umami for website analytics. Umami is a privacy-respecting, open-source analytics solution that we self-host on our own servers. Umami does not use cookies and does not track users across sessions or websites. It collects only anonymized, aggregated data about page views and usage patterns.
This means we have zero third-party analytics cookies on StatsGem.
6. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies. Note that disabling the essential authentication cookie will prevent you from staying logged in to StatsGem.
Browser guidance for managing cookies:
Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
Safari: Settings > Safari > Privacy > Manage Website Data
Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and site data
7. Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our cookie practices, we will update this policy and notify users where appropriate. We are committed to maintaining our minimal, privacy-first approach.
